Soledad and our scholars, 2013 Gala

We started with one word: Yes. When a good friend told Soledad and Brad about a young girl in New Orleans who needed a scholarship to complete her studies, they responded, “Yes.” The Foundation has since supported 28 young women in their educational pursuits, and we’re thrilled to have you read about some of them here on our website.

The Starfish Foundation recognizes what the word “Yes” can mean to young women in a world that always tells them “No” — no to financial aid, no to scholarships, no to student loans.

Our work is built on three pillars:

EDUCATION
We believe that it is critical for young women to have the educational opportunities that will allow them to reach their highest potential. This is not limited to academics, but also includes self-exploration, social skills and personal growth.

ADVOCACY
We know that there are a myriad of obstacles that can stop a young woman from completing her education. We provide young women with a network of support to get them across the finish line.

IMPACT
We challenge young women to increase the benefit of their education by bringing it back to their communities. We hope that our scholars will engender a new community of girls with big dreams and the drive to make them come true.

We hope you’ll join us in saying “Yes.”
