The Starfish Foundation held its first Business Roundtable in July of 2014 at Firmenich, an innovative and unique perfumery located in the heart of Manhattan. Scholars got to hear from individuals from departments ranging from fragrance creation to marketing to public relations. It was a huge success, one we were excited to recreate in 2015 with the Home Shopping Network and its CEO Mindy Grossman.
The goal of a Business Roundtable is to give our scholars the chance to see, in-depth, the workings of a company. Participating employees explain their day-to-day tasks and the journeys that got them into their particular careers. The Roundtable allows our girls to see that a company, no matter its output, has many facets across countless departments and positions — there are opportunities everywhere.
